    • What are they used for? Bricks are used for constructions such as in facades, walls and pavement. Also bricks are used in the metallurgy and glass industries. They have variable uses, especially refractory bricks such as silica, magnesia, chamotte and neutral. This type of brick must have good thermal shock resistance, refractoriness under load, high melting point, and satisfactory porosity.

Another common brick pattern is “Flemish Bond” It is more stronger than most brick patterns and has a nice esthetic quality especially when used with a variety of coloured bricks.

    • What are their advantages and disadvantages?
The “running bond” is very easy to make, but it is not visually interesting. On the other hand the “Flemish bond” is very esthetic and visually dynamic but it is very expensive because it's more difficult to make.
